Two killed in protests against power plant in Andhra
HYDERABAD - Two people were killed and two injured Monday when police opened fire to quell violent protests against a controversial thermal power plant in Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh, police said.

Major fire breaks out in Lucknow plastic factory
LUCKNOW - A massive fire broke out in a plastic recycling factory in a densely populated area of this Uttar Pradesh capital Monday, police said. No casualties were reported.
The fire engulfed the factory in Talkatora area. At least 10 fire tenders were pressed in to douse the blaze.

Rahat Fateh Ali Khan arrested, to be produced in court
NEW DELHI - Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan was arrested by India’s Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) Monday, a day after he was detained at the international airport here for carrying undisclosed foreign currency worth more than $100,000, an official said.
