Three minors drown in Bhakra canal

ROPAR – Three children were drowned when their scooter skidded and rolled into the Bhakra canal here but their parents survived the tragedy, police said Sunday.

Mirchpur violence: Jats demand SIT probe, block roads

JIND – Hundreds of Jat community members blocked roads in Haryana’s Jind district Sunday to demand a Special Investigation Team probe into the Mirchpur caste violence last year in which an elderly Dalit man and his daughter were killed in an arson attack.

Two soldiers injured in Punjab explosion

LUDHIANA – At least two Indian Army soldiers were injured when an explosive they were carrying to a dump to defuse exploded Sunday morning, police said.

The injured soldiers were immediately moved to a nearby hospital for treatment, police officials said.

Pakistani woman electrocuted to death for eloping

ISLAMABAD – A 20-year-old woman in Pakistan’s Sindh province was electrocuted to death as punishment for eloping with a man, police said.

ISLAMABAD – At least 12 people were killed and 40 injured when a passenger bus collided with an oil tanker on a highway in Pakistan’s Sindh province Saturday night, Geo News reported.
