Hurricane warning issued for the US Virgin Islands as Hurricane Earl approaches
Hurricane warning issued for US Virgin Islands
MIAMI – A hurricane warning has been issued for the U.S. Virgin Islands as Hurricane Earl begins hitting the Caribbean.
The hurricane’s maximum sustained winds increased early Monday to near 105 mph (165 kph) with additional strengthening expected.
Earl is located about 50 miles (75 kilometers) east-northeast of St. Martin.

China probes jet crash
BEIJING – China Monday set up a task force to probe the crash of a passenger jet that killed 42 people, a media report said.
The accident occurred last Tuesday in northeastern Yichun city. Fifty-four people were injured. The jet belonged to the Henan Airlines.

Pakistan frees 100 Indian fishermen
ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Monday freed 100 Indian fishermen from a prison in the port city of Karachi, a media report said.
