Brussels gay pride parade draws 35,000 participants

BRUSSELS – More than 35,000 people took part in a gay and lesbian pride parade in the Belgian capital Saturday.

Unpaid dues: ICL officials face legal action

CHANDIGARH – A court here Saturday issued notice to three officials of the rebel Indian Cricket League (ICL) for not paying the Rs.700,000 dues of a local hotel.

Egypt opens Rafah crossing for stranded Palestinians

GAZA – Egypt opened its crossing point with the Gaza Strip at Rafah Saturday to allow around 8,000 stranded Palestinians to cross into Egypt, the Palestinian Border Crossing Corporation (PBCC) said.

President signs ordinance dissolving MCI

NEW DELHI – An ordinance dissolving the Medical Council of India (MCI) and replacing it with a seven-member governing committee of eminent doctors was signed by President Pratibha Patil Saturday, a Rashtrapti Bhavan official said.

Frame charges against Sajjan Kumar for 1984 riots: Court

NEW DELHI – A city court Saturday ordered framing of charges against Congress leader Sajjan Kumar and seven others for allegedly killing five people during the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.
